San Diego Willowy Mint is a small, semi-deciduous shrub that grows quickly. This plant has narrow, light-deep green and purple leaves that almost look frosted because of the resin. This plant has one of the most pleasant smells in all of California, reminiscent of chocolate mint. These can be smelled from dozens of feet away when they are trimmed or brushed upon. The flowers are thin and light lavender.

In the garden, these are used as a slope stabilizer and along pathways. They do not really have a super showy flower, but they are numerous enough for people to take notice. The best part is the smell, so place them somewhere you think people will run into them. Cut these back every winter to encourage spring growth.
