Common Rush is a small, clumping juncus plant that grows fast with water. It grows erect and neatly. The clump expands but not by runners. It has deep green leaves and small brown flowers/seeds which are not showy. This plant is often found growing in marsh areas, seasonal creeks, and places you can find lots of water.

In the garden, this plant is used primarily around stream beds. It adds a great touch of green and a natural aesthetic. It has a lot of structure, because it is so neat and erect. It is also used in bio filtration operations. This can also be used in pots, planters or narrow planter beds in a modern designed home.
